Sara Ramirez was raised by her American mother and encountered a number of racial slurs, which led her to feel unwelcome. The following year, in 2007, she was cast on the ABC show Grey's Anatomy and became more well-known. The actress is also a renowned artist and released an extended play. Additionally, she works as a LGBT activist.
